Sixteen schools will enter wrestlers in the two-day Eagle Invitational this week at the Mebane Arts & Community Center.
Area schools include host Eastern Alamance, Bartlett Yancey, Cummings, Graham, Southeast Alamance, Southern Alamance, Cedar Ridge and Orange for the tournament’s 36th edition.
There will be boys’ and girls’ brackets. Wrestling begins at 6:00 p.m. Friday and at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
- Earlier this month at Hillsborough, Southern Alamance’s Luke White was the runner-up at 285 pounds in Orange’s 23-team Jim King Invitational.
White won two of his first three bouts by pins (the other in overtime) before he was pinned in 1:41 by South Johnston’s Jamarion Ward in the title match.
Southern’s Jace Rich placed fourth at 165 pounds, Southeast Alamance’s Kennedy Woods ended up fifth at 215, and Western Alamance’s Christian Garcia was sixth at 175.
