The Don Amos Holiday Classic, a basketball tournament held at Graham for at least a quarter-century, has been discontinued.
The high school event included girls’ and boys’ brackets.
Graham athletics director Kyle Ward said scheduling didn’t work out for teams that might have been potential entrants for this year.
The tournament was generally held across two or three days prior to Christmas. There were four teams in each bracket.
The tournament was played in memory of Don Amos, a longtime girls’ basketball coach at Graham. He died in 2015 at age 74, though the tournament had been conducted in his honor prior to that. The tournament was in full swing in the late 1990s.
Clover Garden’s girls’ team won the past three editions of the tournament. Greater Vision Academy won the 2023 boys’ title.
