A Mebane teen has been indicted for first-degree murder in a shooting at the Cambridge Park subdivision on the south side of Mebane during the early evening of Friday, June 13.
An Alamance County grand jury returned a bill of indictment on Monday, July 14 against Tevion Waquis Edmonds, 19, black, male, of 1122 Bateman Place, Mebane.
He is charged in the fatal shooting of Teddy Wataise Edmonds, of the same address, according to the court file.
An initial news release from the Mebane police department did not identify the victim, whose name was listed on a subsequent order issued by an Alamance County magistrate.
Mebane police said in a subsequent release that the suspect and victim “were known to one another.”
Edmonds is currently being held without bond in the Alamance County jail and is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on September 8.
The defendant is being represented by Kellie Mannette of the Thomas, Ferguson & Beskind law firm in Durham, based on a motion for discovery that was filed in the case on Tuesday, July 15.
