The Williams boys and Burlington Christian Academy girls were team champions in the Alamance County city-county cross country championships last week at Lake Cammack.
Williams won the boys’ team title with 32 points, with Southeast Alamance the runner-up with 62, followed by Southern Alamance (65), Western Alamance (72), BCA (133), and Grace Christian (174).
In the girls’ race, BCA swept the top four positions on the way to 21 points. Southeast was next with 55, followed by Western (72), Williams (88), and Southern (121) among teams with full scoring rosters.
For the boys, Easton Freeman of Williams was the winner in 17 minutes, 50.6 1 seconds across the 3.1-mile course for about a 13-second margin on teammate Max Thomas.
Western’s Whitman Stiegel (18:06.62) was third, followed by Southern’s Payne Collins (18:12.34), and Western’s Harry Gammon (18:14.37).
Southern’s Brian Dehart (18:34.02), Southeast’s Aiden Greene (19:00.34), Williams’ Roman Newton (19:07.41), Southeast’s Neil Edwards (19:21.08), and Williams’ Zander Lewis (19:24.00) rounded out the top 10 among 60 runners.
In girls’ competition, BCA’s Blakeley Bork (20:35.52) was the champion, with Ellianna Bork (21:08.57), Mary Katherine Parham (21:22.91), and Adalynn House (21:27.99) adding to the Royals’ dominance.
Bradford Academy’s Martha Ann Crotts (22:53.04) finished fifth ahead of Western’s Kennedy Ramsey (22:55.54), Southeast’s Brooke Brownell (23:04.80), Williams’ Taylor Traumuller (23:40.81), Southeast’s Reagan Jones (23:56.40), and Elise Westbrook (24:17.50). There were 42 runners.
