The Southeast Alamance boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both hold top regional seeds for the state playoffs.
Both Eastern Alamance teams also will receive first-round byes. The Eagles lost to Southeast in the Mid-Carolina Conference Tournament finals for boys and girls Friday night.
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released brackets for the postseason Saturday.
Three rounds will be this week, with Tuesday’s first round, Thursday’s second, and Saturday’s third round.
Regional finals are in either Greenville (East Region) or Hickory (West Region) on March 4-7. The state finals are set for March 11-14 in Winston-Salem.
Here’s a look:
BOYS
Southeast Alamance is top seeded in the East Region for Class 5-A, awaiting the first-round winner between No. 16 seed Pikeville Aycock and No. 17 seed Roxboro Person.
Eastern Alamance holds the No. 3 seed, meaning a bye and a second-round game against either No. 14 seed South Brunswick or No. 19 seed Rockingham County.
Western Alamance holds the No. 21 seed, meaning a trip to No. 12 seed Northside-Jacksonville. . No. 4 seed Wilson Hunt meets the winner.
Class 6-A
Williams holds the No. 5 seed in the East Region, with a second-round game vs. either No. 12 seed Lee County or No. 21 seed Southeast Guilford.
Southern Alamance is seeded No. 17, sending the Patriots to No. 16 Erwin Triton. No. 1 seed Northern Nash awaits the winner.
Class 4-A
Graham will take the No. 22 seed in the East Region to No. 11 seed Uwharrie Charter Academy. No. 6 seed SouthWest Edgecombe faces the winner.
Cummings (4-18) didn’t make the field.
Class 1-A
Clover Garden is the No. 16 seed in the West Region with a home game against No. 17 seed Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy, with the winner going to top-seeded Robbinsville. River Mill (2-19) didn’t make the field.
GIRLS
Southeast Alamance, a 2025 state champion, is the top seed in the East Region for Class 5-A. The Stallions meet either No. 16 seed Northside-Jacksonville or No. 17 seed Saint Pauls.
Fourth-seeded Eastern Alamance opens with either No. 13 seed West Carteret or No. 20 seed Roxboro Person.
Western Alamance, also a reigning state champion, is seeded No. 10 with a home matchup with No. 23 Oxford Webb. The winner goes to No. 7 seed Currituck County.
Class 6-A
Williams holds the No. 15 seed in the East Region with a home date vs. No. 18 seed Gray’s Creek, with the winner going to second-seeded Fayetteville Seventy-First.
Southern Alamance (3-20) didn’t qualify.
Class 4-A
Cummings is seeded No. 16 in the East Region, so there’s a home game vs. No. 17 Eden Morehead before the winner goes to top-seeded High Point Andrews.
Class 1-A
Fifth-seeded Clover Garden will meet No. 12 seed Highlands School or No. 21 Triad Math and Science in the second round in the West Region.
River Mill is seeded No. 19 in the West Region, going to No. 14 Chatham Central for the first round. The winner faced No. 3 College Prep and Leadership Academy.
