Western Alamance and Eastern Alamance have stayed on track for a key matchup in Mid-Carolina Conference girls’ soccer.
The teams meet for the second time this season Monday night at Western. Through Tuesday, Eastern’s only loss came vs. Western.
Undefeated Western received five goals from Callie Athas and two goals apiece from Kayley Lee and Kennedy Vaughn in Monday’s 9-0 triumph at Roxboro Person.
Three goals from Athas and two goals from Lee helped Western beat visiting Graham 9-0 last week. Then Friday it was a similar combination with Athas scoring three goals and Lee notching two goals when the Warriors topped visiting Bishop McGuinness 5-1 in a non-conference game.
- Eastern rolled past visiting Roxboro Person 9-0 with Lilly Massey’s three goals, Maddy Loranger’s two goals and an assist, and Heidi Ortiz’s two goals leading the way last week.
On Monday night at Southern Alamance, Eastern had the only three second-half goals in a 5-1 victory. Macie Oakley scored for Southern.
- Brooke Brownell scored two goals when Southeast Alamance rolled to a 9-0 victory at Cummings on Monday. Southeast won 2-0 vs. visiting Southern on goals from Nadia Navarro and Abby Stadnicar last week.
- Williams defeated visiting Cummings 9-0 last week as Sophie Vongsavanh, Taylor Traumuller, and Emma Traumuller all scored two goals.
Williams won 9-0 at Graham on Monday with Ela Young posting three goals and McKinley Metts notching two goals and three assists.
- Callie Cross, Keira Scharen, and Oakley all had two goals when Southern won 8-0 at Northern Durham on Friday. Cross also had four assists.
- Clover Garden defeated visiting Ascend Leadership 5-1 last week and blasted visiting Southern Wake 10-1 on Monday.
- River Mill lost 4-2 at Central Carolina Academy on Monday.
- Burlington Christian Academy defeated host The Burlington 8-1 on Tuesday, snapping a three-game winless stretch. Alex Eguren had the TBS goal.
TBS defeated The Hawbridge School 10-0 with Eguren and Gaylie Jackson both scoring three goals Friday.
- Alamance Christian School has a four-game winning streak after Monday’s 4-0 home victory against Gospel Light and Tuesday’s 2-1 home victory against Union Grove Christian. Maddie Reynolds had three goals Monday and another Tuesday, when Carly Loftin also scored for the Warriors.
Boys’ lacrosse
Williams won 20-0 vs. visiting Western Alamance on Friday night and then trampled visiting Southeast Alamance 19-3 on Tuesday in the Mid-Carolina Conference.
Second-place Williams visits first-place Southern Alamance on Tuesday night.
Southern lost 19-7 to visiting Felton Grove despite Trey Dehart’s three goals last week.
- Anthony Biondo provided five goals and two assists when Southeast won 13-11 at Eastern Alamance on Friday night. Zack Pisani had five goals and Aiden Greene notched two goals and two assists.
- Western fell 8-3 to visiting Roxboro Community on Tuesday.
Boys’ golf
Eastern Alamance’s Max Brehler’s even-par 36 was the top mark in Monday’s Mid-Carolina Conference match at Mill Creek Golf Club.
Southeast Alamance’s Trevor Fowler and Southern Alamance’s Kaden Long both shot 38s.
Southern had the best team score with 160, four strokes better than Roxboro Person. Western Alamance was third with 165.
- Fowler, Western’s Andrew Bullard, and Southern’s Landon Lynch all shot 4-over-par 39s in last week’s All-Alamance County match at The Valley Golf Course. Brehler and Southern’s Cooper Dodson and Long were all one shot back.
Southern topped the team standings with 160, followed by Western (166), Southeast (170), Williams (177), Eastern (190) and Graham (227).
