After only five months on the job, the Alamance Arts Council is losing its new executive director.
Brandon Bruce was selected after a national search to succeed Cary Worthy, who retired at the end of 2020 after leading the local arts council for 24½ years.

Bruce began his duties January 4, but it was announced Friday he will be leaving on June 18 to accept a tenure-track post as a professor at Dixie State University in St. George Utah, according to the arts council.
The announcement was made by Frances “Lummy” Barnes, president of the board of directors for Alamance Arts, who said the organization “will move forward with a plan to fill this crucial role.”
“My time with Alamance Arts, although short-lived, has been fantastic,” Bruce said, adding, “My decision to accept this position in Utah does not lessen my love and appreciation for Alamance Arts’ mission and vision, or its board, staff, and volunteers. I look forward to continuing a positive relationship with this organization for many years to come.”
