DAR Good Citizen Award winners chosen

The Battle of Alamance Chapter, North Carolina Society Daughters of the American Revolution has announced this year’s top seniors who have been chosen for the group’s Good Citizen Award. These students have all demonstrated the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their schools and larger communities. The students may also choose to participate in an essay/scholarship competition.

This year’s scholarship winners are: Millie Hancock, Burlington Christian Academy – 1st place; Sarah Widderich, Eastern High School – 2nd place; and Austin Holt Foushee, Alamance-Burlington Middle College – 3rd place.

Other essay honorees are Jacob “Fisher” Rudd of River Mill Academy, Lacy Elisabeth Mills of Southern High School, and Mary Hunter Hite of Williams High School. Non-essay honorees are Lacey VanNostrand of Alamance Christian School, Landon Fairchild of Bradford Academy, Claire Elizabeth Smith of Clover Garden School, Jocelyn Cruz-Cuna of Cummings High School, Rachel Lopez of Graham High School, Nora Mansfield of The Burlington School, Margot Francini of The Hawbridge School, and Savannah Bernston of Western High School.
