Graham city councilman Joey Parsons made it official Tuesday night. That night’s meeting would be his last.
Parsons is planning to move outside the city and reported that he has, in fact, now sold his home in Graham.
He said he would resign from the council at the end of the month.
Parsons had already indicated he would not seek reelection this November, so the council has the possibility of having a vacancy in its ranks for September, October, and November until a new member is elected who would be sworn in at the December meeting.
Parsons was elected to his first four-year term in 2021.
Seeking reelection to the council is councilman Bobby Chin, also first elected in 2021.
Also seeking a seat in November are Jim Young, a planning board member and a former mayoral candidate in 2017; Randy Phillips, a retired emergency services worker; and Daniel Alvis, who owns Maple Street Tavern.
