TRACT DESCRIPTION: This is an exceptional tract of 41-year-old loblolly pine timber, with excellent
access and logging conditions. The sale area contains approximately 116.1 +/- acres (including the Stream Management Zones). Acreage was determined using the Global Positioning System (GPS) only. This timber sale contains an estimated 11,259 tons of pine sawtimber/chip-n-saw (197 bd.ft./tree) and 110 tons of hardwood sawtimber (104 bd.ft./tree). In addition, there is an estimated 279 tons of pine pulpwood, 330 tons of hardwood pulpwood, and 36 tons of hardwood palletwood. Access and logging conditions are excellent, with a well-established road system and all-weather logging potential.
TRACT LOCATION: This timber sale is located on Austin Quarter Road at the Alamance County Landfill. This site is approximately 2 miles east of Saxapahaw in southeastern Alamance County, NC. The public entrance to the Landfill is located 1 mile from the intersection of Saxapahaw-Bethlehem Church Road and Austin Quarter Road. Prospective bidders may utilize the public entrance of the landfill for evaluation of the timber sale. For safety purposes, please check-in with Landfill personnel at the entrance prior to entering the property.
TYPE OF HARVEST: Clearcut all merchantable timber, except for the Stream Management Zones (SMZs) and boundary line trees. The boundaries of the timber sale areas have been marked with pink-glo flagging. Trees marked with pink-glo flagging and/or boundary line paint should NOT be harvested. The division line between “Area 1” and “Area 2” has been marked with pink-glo/blue flagging. The boundaries of the SMZs have been marked with blue paint. All trees that may be harvested from the SMZs have been marked with a “C”. The “Proposed Log Truck Access” is marked with orange flagging.
TYPE OF SALE: Lump-Sum, Sealed Bid. A $2,000.00 performance bond and a pre-harvest meeting is required before logging operations begin. Henderson Forestry Consultants, PA reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
DATE OF SALE: THURSDAY, AUGUST 12TH, 2021 @ 12:00 PM. Sealed bids will be opened at the office of Henderson Forestry Consultants, PA. Our office is located at 919 South Cox Street, Suite A-1 Asheboro, North Carolina. Email, fax, or call-in bids will be accepted up to the time of bid opening.
TIME LIMIT:
a) AREA 1 – 23.8-acres – Purchaser shall have until March 1, 2022 to cut and remove timber from “Area 1”. No contract time extensions will be granted for removal of timber from “Area 1”.
b) AREA 2 – 92.3-acres – Purchaser shall have Twenty-Four Months from the date of closing to cut and remove timber from “Area 2”. Henderson Forestry Consultants, PA reserves the right to halt all logging activities if soil damage becomes excessive due to wet soil conditions. The contract time period may be extended to reflect any lost time. A maximum extension of up to three additional months may be granted.
