Burlington’s planning and zoning commission looked no further than its vice chairman Charlie Beasley when it came time to pick a successor to its former chairman James Kirkpatrick, who rotated off the commission earlier this summer. The commission’s members unanimously chose Beasley to wield the gavel when they convened their latest regularly-scheduled meeting on Monday.
They went on to confer the vice chairmanship on retired DOT engineer Mike Mills, whose absence that night made it difficult for him to object to the nod.
