Next county manager makes pre-job appearance before county commissioners

Although she won’t officially be on the clock for another week, incoming county manager Heidi York still put in her hours on Monday when she showed up for the latest semimonthly meeting of Alamance County’s commissioners.

York, who is just now wrapping up a 13-year-stint as Person County’s manager, spent Monday’s proceedings warming the bench as a regular audience member. She nevertheless had an opportunity to address her new bosses at the end of the meeting – and also to share the reaction that her old supervisors in Person County have had to her impending departure.

“They have been trying to entice me to stay,” she acknowledged in her remarks to Alamance County’s commissioners. “They got me a new chair to sit in, and told me I can keep it if I stay.”
