In your view, what are the three main issues facing the county during the next 5 years? [50 word limit]
BOWDEN: Growth, aging facilities and need to have a solid public safety infrastructure. Currently EMS is operating at almost half of the level of services that industry standards suggest. 1 EMS unit is needed for every 10,000-15,000 citizens. Also the many vacancies in SD and DSS should be of great concern.
HARRISON: [Refused to respond.]
JOYCE: Need more taxpayer involvement in large expenditures. Illegal immigration. Meeting our needs rather than wants.
PAISLEY: 1. Addressing drug and mental health concerns in the county. 2. Providing for the required legislative expansion of court services as mandated by state law. 3. Improving the working relationship with ABSS so that necessary funds are provided without duplication or diversion of the county-provided funds.
PRIOLA: 1. Rising crime rates (and spiraling drug epidemic). 2. Failing schools (17 out of 35 traditional ABSS schools received Ds and Fs). 3. Sprawling growth (which stretches first responders and threatens family farming). In addition to cutting taxes, I will fight to eliminate waste and support law enforcement and first responders.
THOMPSON: Crime, Drug overdoses and addiction, the effects of illegal immigration into our schools, adequate first responder coverage and services due to population growth.
