Eastern Alamance will hold a retirement celebration for longtime football coach and athletics director John Kirby at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the school’s auditorium.
The event is open to the public. Refreshments in the gym will follow the ceremony.

Kirby, an Eastern alum, coached the Eagles for more than 30 years, taking over the head coaching position late in the 1991 season. Along the way, he added athletics director duties to his roles at the school. He stepped down as football coach during the winter and remains as A.D. through the end of the school year.
