Three county teams – Southern, Eastern, Williams –reach lacrosse state playoffs

Southern Alamance holds the No. 8 seed for the Class 1-A/2-A/3-A in the East Region for state playoffs, receiving a first-round bye.

That will set up the Patriots (18-4) for a home game Friday against No. 9 seed Northside of Jacksonville (10-7).

Williams (11-10) also has a first-round bye as the No. 10 seed before a trip to seventh-seeded Greenville Rose (16-4) in the second round.

No. 17 seed Eastern Alamance was to go to No. 16 Jacksonville for Wednesday’s first round after the game was postponed from Tuesday.

In the West Region, Eastern Guilford (4-13) is the No. 16 seed with a bye prior to a trip to No. 1 seed Christ the King (13-7) on Friday.

  • Southeast Alamance (7-17) didn’t make the state playoffs despite winning its final two games of the season.

The Stallions posted a 9-3 home victory against Eastern Guilford with Nick Saunders and Anthony Biondo each scoring two goals. Then in the season finale, Southeast topped visiting Roxboro Community with Biondo and Aiden Greene scoring four goals apiece.
