A man and woman from Graham were charged last week with credit card theft.
The investigation began on February 2, when Burlington police took a report at the victim’s bank and determined the theft occurred from a man in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction, i.e., the non-municipal area of the county.
During the investigation, Jesse Evans and Crystal Aviles were identified as suspects; they were located in a Burlington motel on Wednesday, February 9. They were initially taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning; later that day, they were arrested and taken to jail.
They were accused of theft and charging goods and services up to $2,500.
Arrested was Jesse Lee Evans, white, male, 42, of 861 Grey Fox Trail, Graham; he was charged with one count of felony financial card theft; and six counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense. His bond was set at $10,000 unsecured.
Also arrested was Crystal Jaimes Aviles, white, female, 41, of the same address. She was charged with one count of felony financial card theft; and four counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense. Her bond was set at $5,000 unsecured.
