Person County man charged with breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon

A Person County man faces multiple charges after being arrested early Sunday morning by Alamance County sheriff’s deputies.

The incident arose in the 8000 block of McBane Mill Road, Graham about 1:57 a.m. in reference to “shots fired.”  The caller identified the suspect as Johnny Wayne Medlin, Jr., white male, 44, 137 Dandelion Drive, Timberlake, NC.

While deputies were en route, the dispatcher advised that Medlin had had a physical altercation with a male at the residence.  Medlin was reported to have left the residence, presumably to seek medical attention.

According to the subsequent investigation, Medlin had travelled to the residence and entered the rear door without permission. After initially entering the residence, he left the house, went to his vehicle, and allegedly fired several gunshots outside.

The resident then exited his home in an effort to confront Medlin, who produced a shotgun from his vehicle and fired at the resident’s feet.  The resident was not hit.  When Medlin aimed the shotgun at the resident’s face, the men began fighting over the gun.  The resident was able to wrestle the shotgun from Medline who then retreated to his vehicle and left the premises.

Medlin was later located at UNC Hospital in Hillsborough, seeking treatment for injuries sustained during the altercation. He was arrested there after being medically cleared and was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Medlin has been charged with:

1ct: Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill

1ct: Misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun

1ct: Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering

Medlin was placed under a $50,000 unsecured bond.
