Grooms selected as new leader of YMCA

The Alamance County Community YMCA has announced Kimberly “Kim” Grooms as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 14, 2026.

Grooms brings more than 35 years of progressive YMCA leadership experience and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Alamance County Community YMCA. In that role, she oversees a $3 million operating budget, leads five full-time directors, and provides operational leadership for more than 175 part-time and seasonal employees.

During her tenure, the Alamance County Community YMCA surpassed $1 million in annual program revenue for the first time and successfully implemented its 2023–2025 Strategic Plan. She also helped grow the Annual Campaign from $34,000 to $116,000 and helped secure more than $750,000 in state and local grant funding.

Her leadership has also supported a USDA food program that provides more than 95,000 meals annually to children experiencing food insecurity in Alamance County. Prior to her current role, Grooms served in executive leadership positions with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA and the YMCA of the Triangle.
