Even with recent reeappointments to Mebane’s advisory board that makes recommendations to the city council on planning and zoning issues, the board still lacks one member, and the city is urging interested residents to apply.
The county commissioners this week reappointed Larry Teague, who has served one term (four years) as a member representing the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) outside Mebane on the Alamance County side of the line (one of two Alamance County appointees on the board). (Orange County also has one extraterritorial member on the city’s planning board.)

There was a lot of interest in the Alamance County appointment: the commissioners reappointed Teague who was one of four ETJ residents seeking the appointment. The three other ETJ residents who applied for the same seat were: Roger James, Jonathan Webster, and Virginia Gail Miller.
Mebane’s city council last month reappointed three members from within the city limits, all of whom had sought another term: board chairman Edward Tulauskas, vice chairman Judy Taylor, and board member Kurt Pearson. Tulauskas and Taylor were sworn in at the last meeting; Pearson was absent and will be sworn in later.

No other residents sought an appointment, and no one has applied for the partial term (of two years) available since the resignation of Thomas Vinson early this year.
Residents interested to apply may download a copy of the application form at the Mebane Planning Department website: (https://www.cityofmebane.com/city_hall/boards/planning_board) or contact the City of Mebane Planning Department to request one.
